Personal Data Notice (KVKK)

What personal data do we process?

Identity and contact details: first and last name, email address, profile photo. If you sign in with Google, the name, email and profile photo Google shares with us.

Account details: your password (only in irreversibly encrypted form), account creation and sign in times, how you came to sign up (for example a partner link or an ad campaign).

Professional profile: title, seniority, industries and interests, work experience, education, skills and tools, languages, city and country, social and contact links, job seeking status, your goals on the Platform, what you offer and what you are looking for, your priority settings.

Company and organization details: details of the companies you own or work for, the work email and domain used for company verification, team and department details.

Content and interactions: your posts, comments, likes and boosts, poll votes, saved items, follows, connections, mutes and blocks, messages, job and opportunity applications, co-founder and support applications, recommendations, reports and problem reports.

Usage data: the profiles, companies, posts and listings you view; how long you stay on a post; your appearances in search results; clicks, page views and device details (browser type, screen size, approximate location).

Partner Program details: if you applied, your social media channels, follower counts and the people who signed up through your link.

The Platform does not ask for the special categories of personal data listed in Article 6 of KVKK (health, religion, ethnic origin, biometric data, etc.). Please do not write such information in your profile, posts or messages.

Why do we process your data?

• To create your account, let you sign in and keep your account secure
• To show your profile and company page to other users
• To suggest people, companies, jobs and collaboration opportunities, investors and support organizations that fit you (matching)
• To rank your Feed by relevance
• To run messaging, connections, applications and notifications
• To show you profile and company visitor statistics
• To verify companies and people and to calculate trust scores
• To prevent abuse, spam and fake accounts, and to review reports
• To send you service emails (verification, password reset, notifications)
• To measure how our ad campaigns and the Partner Program perform
• To improve the Platform and fix technical problems
• To meet our legal obligations

Legal grounds

We process your data on the following legal grounds under Article 5 of KVKK:

• Entering into or performing a contract: data needed to open your account and run the Platform's features for you (5/2-c)
• Legitimate interest: matching, Feed ranking, security, abuse prevention and improving the Platform (5/2-f)
• Data made public by you: what you write on your public profile and in public posts (5/2-d)
• Legal obligation: statutory retention and reporting obligations (5/2-ç)
• Explicit consent: measurement and analytics cookies, and any other processing not covered by the grounds above (5/1)

Who do we share your data with?

Other users: Your profile details, posts and comments are visible to other users of the Platform, and some of them to signed out visitors and search engines as well. When you view a person's or a company's profile, its owner can see your name among their visitors from the last 24 hours. Only the people you are talking to see your messages.

Our service providers: To run the Platform we share your data only with the service providers below, and only as far as each service needs:

Authorities: with competent public authorities where required by law.

We do not sell your personal data.

Transfers abroad

Some of the service providers above are located outside Türkiye, so your personal data is transferred abroad. These transfers are made in line with the safeguards set out in Article 9 of KVKK.

How do we collect your data?

We collect your data directly from you when you sign up and use the Platform; from Google if you sign in with Google; and automatically through cookies and similar technologies while you use the Platform. Other users may also share information about you (for example when they write you a recommendation or mention you in a post).

How long do we keep it?

We keep your data for as long as your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable time, except for what we are legally required to keep. A copy of messages you sent to other users may remain in their inboxes.

Your rights

Under Article 11 of KVKK you have the right to:

• Learn whether your personal data is processed
• Request information about it if it is
• Learn the purpose of the processing and whether the data is used for that purpose
• Know the third parties in Türkiye or abroad to whom it is transferred
• Ask for it to be corrected if it is incomplete or inaccurate
• Ask for it to be deleted or destroyed under Article 7 of KVKK
• Ask for corrections and deletions to be notified to the third parties it was transferred to
• Object to a result against you that comes solely from automated analysis of your data (for example matching and trust scores)
• Claim compensation if you suffer damage because of unlawful processing

How to apply

To use your rights, write to info@umaynow.com from the email address registered on the Platform. Stating your name and your request clearly is enough. We will respond free of charge within 30 days at the latest.
